Quote: Flaunting their pregnancies, mothers-to-be in the city of Jilin, in Jilin Province, are having their pictures taken in bikinis and see-through dresses.
While posing for the pictures, some of the women have pictures painted on their bellies while others let their husbands scribble on them.
"Mostly born in the late 1970s or the early 1980s, these women have never missed an opportunity to show off their natural beauty, even when they're pregnant," a ameraman said.
[Xinhua] Pregnant ladies stand in line to show the cartoon figures on their abdomens during a contest of colored drawing for pregnant mothers at a hospital in Haikou, capital of south China's Hainan province, Monday, July 23, 2007.

Honestly, i think the mothers-to-be all look great but the cartoon figures are a little crappy... Besides, why should they enter a contest? Is pregnancy a very private thing?

| Yeah there is nothing wrong with them showing themselves or anything, but the cartoon figures are a bit odd and sort of make it all a bit sad and childish rather than some statement about femininity. |

Of course there's nothing wrong with showing your belly...
But I'm confused about the contest. It's probably the shortest article I've ever read. |

I think it's similar my not understanding the obsession of older women (30+) with Hello Kitty. And I know of at least a handful that exist. |

I think it's great. I feel very sympathetic and protective towards pregnant women. I think most people do. People always are curious and ask a lot of questions to a pregnant woman.
The only problem is the mood swings from all that progesterone hormone flowing through their blood streams. |
